How do CoARA research assessment reforms, open-science protocols, and upgraded RMA workflows perform when stress-tested inside real pilot-scale food and biotechnology facilities?
Unlike purely theoretical reform initiatives, REACtOE will embed institutional reforms, hands-on upskilling, and FAIR data stewardship directly into six regional Living Lab pilot case studies (CS1–CS6) aligned with national Smart Specialisation (RIS3) priorities across Türkiye, Serbia, Portugal, Slovenia, Greece, and Lithuania.
An Interconnected Value Chain Across Six Universities
Rather than operating in isolation, the six pilots will exchange biological residues, enzyme formulations, toxicological evidence, citizen sensory data, and AI sustainability benchmarks:
- CS1 · METU (Türkiye): National Pilot-Scale Processing Hub for Alternative Proteins & Fiber Production.
- CS2 · TFNS (Serbia): Bio-Circular Valorisation Platform for Agro-Industrial Side Streams.
- CS3 · UCP (Portugal): Enzymatic Valorisation & Immobilisation Platform for Bio-Circular Applications.
- CS4 · UM (Slovenia): Regional Innovation Governance Lab (RIG-Lab) for Food Safety, Health & Policy Integration.
- CS5 · HUA (Greece): Digital Consumer & Citizen Living Labs for Engagement, Claims & Data Openness.
- CS6 · VILNIUS TECH (Lithuania): Sustainability Entrepreneurship & Innovation Translation Hub.
